Zeta Joanne Reynolds Goon

ZETA JOANNE (BORSZICH) KNITTEL, REYNOLDS, GOON, July 22,1922 to April 6, 2012   89 years old.   Zeta was born in Rosebud, SD. to Peter and Nellie (Cogswell) Borszich.   After graduating high school in New Underwood, SD, Zeta, traveled to the Willamette Valley in OR where she spent the rest of her life. She  joined her mother in Dallas, OR where she met and married Reuben Knittel on October 5, 1940 in Stevenson, WA.   They owned and operated a grocery business  in Independence, OR for many years.  She continued to work in the grocery business throughout the Willamette Valley for all of her working years.   Edgar Reynolds became her husband on September 19, 1964 in Vancouver, WA  and made homes in Sweet Home and Albany, OR areas.  Retiring, they traveled a lot of the United States visiting friends and family. After Ed’s death she moved to Dallas, OR, once again, and met and married George Goon on March 25, 1992.   Stayton area became home until George’s death.  Zeta found raising 3 children a challenging and rewarding experience. She had great interest and pride in their accomplishments.  Having 7 Grand-children, 14 Great-grand-children, and 2 Great-great-grand children she felt truly blessed. She was always as interested in them as she was in her children.   Zeta was always an avid reader throughout her life.   Quilting was of a great interest to her.   She was involved with a quilting group in Crabtree, while living in Albany, OR. Making quilts and taking quilting classes with her daughters was a favorite. Sewing and other handwork was always on hand to be worked on. The computer became a favorite avenue to play games and puzzles.  Zeta was proud of her lifetime membership in Eastern Star.  She made many friends throughout her life and was loved by many.  She lived with her daughter Sharon until health issues forced her to move to Heron Pointe Assisted Living Facility in Monmouth, OR. She passed away there.Surviving family: Brother, Martin D Knittel (wife) Marjorie; Children; Derald L Knittel (wife) Jozann, Norma Wittanen (husband) Fred, and Sharon Jacobsen (husband) Jim. Graveside service Saturday, April 14th, 2:00 p.m. at Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Lebanon, OR. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services Stayton, OR.
