William C. “Tex” King July 30, 1934 † Dec. 22, 2013 Stayton, Oregon Tex King, 79, died December 22, in Salem, Oregon. He was born July 30, 1934 in Portland, Oregon to Charlotte Eben and Fred G. King. He attended school in Scappose,Oregon. After school, Tex worked in a restaurant until he was able to enroll in Printers School in Portland, after which he was employed as a printer for Multnomah County. Tex married Betty Jean Long on December 1, 1974 and they had recently celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary. He served in the United States Air Force and had been an active member of American Legion Post #58. Tex had received special recognition from the American Legion for high achievement in local events. Tex loved fishing, jigsaw puzzles and visiting people. He was a huge fan of Stayton High School football and softball. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Stayton Ward. He is survived by his wife, Betty, his son, Bill Long and six grandchildren. Services will be held at the Stayton Ward, 1400 Werstern Ave., Stayton, OR on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Followed by military honors at Lone Oak Cemetery, Stayton.
