William Bill Joseph Stupfel

William Bill Joseph Stupfel September 7, 1931 April 16, 2015 Stayton, Oregon Our Dad, Bill Stupfel 83, died peacefully in his sleep.   He was born in Milwaukie Oregon at his home to Clarence and Elsie (Gass) Stupfel.  Dad grew up with 2 older sisters, a younger sister, younger brother, Grandmother and Aunt all living in the same house.  Bill was a member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Milwaukie.  He enjoyed baseball, basketball, golf, fishing and camping.   He attended high school at Central Catholic and later at Mount Angel Seminary.   In 1952 Dad was drafted by the Army and served as a truck driver and later an envoy driver for the Generals motorcade during the peace talks near the end of the Korean war.  Dad served three tours of duty in Korea before being honorably discharged in 1954. In 1955 Dad married the love of his life, Jeanette (Bunker).  Together they had eight children.   Dad was a devoted husband and father.  In 1956 Dad was hired by Bonneville Power Administration and worked in the Kent, WA area transmission line maintenance crew.   The family moved to many Pacific Northwest towns including Portland, Kent, Pasco, Salem, Auburn, Keizer and finished his career as the Superintendant of the Lower Columbia Transmission line maintenance in the Portland Area while living in Canby, OR.    In 1989 Dad retired and helped to build their dream home in the Shaw, OR area where they grew fruit trees, flowers and massive vegetable gardens.  They lived there from 1991 until downsizing and moving to Stayton, OR in 2006.  Mom and Dad are members of St Marys Catholic Church Shaw.  Dad was a life member of the Knights of Columbus holding most officer positions in several different councils. Dad loved God, his family and friends.  We know he is in heaven with his grandson Connor, his Parents, and his sisters Lillian and Lorraine. Dad is survived by his wife Jan(Married 59 years); sons Don (Wife Sandi), Joe, Tom, Mike (Wife Sabrina); Daughters Kay (Husband Darrin Gage), Leslie (Husband Joe Usselman), Trish (Life Partner Laura McInnis), Marianne (Husband Adrian Wallace); Sister Linda (Husband Dave Tozar) and Brother Leon (Wife Betty).  Dad had many Cousins, Nieces and Nephews, 11 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandson and family friends.  He was a generous soul with a kind heart and a silly sense of humor. We wish to thank the staff at Rosewood Court Memory Care and Tierra Rose Nursing Care for their excellent and loving care for Dad during his battle with dementia. A Rosary (10:30am) followed by a Celebration of Life (11:00am) will be held at St Marys Catholic Church in Shaw, OR.  (Address 9168 Silver Falls Hwy Aumsville, OR) In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the St Marys Catholic Church-Shaw Building fund.
