Wayland Arthur Porter Sr Profile Photo

Wayland Arthur Porter Sr. was born February 14, 1936 in Randolph, Vermont, to Leon Robert and Louise (Johnstone) Porter. He remained in Vermont until he was a young adult and decided to head out west. He worked for a year before going back for his young family. Wayland and his wife trekked across the country with four young children, one so small she rode in a basket. It was quite the adventure! His first job out west was helping build Green Peter dam, driving rock truck. After that dam was completed, he drove log truck mostly for the rest of his career. Wayland was an avid hunter and also loved camping and fishing. He was a man’s man, and a ladies man. Although his life was not always perfect, he maintained a goofy personality. Wayland was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children Lori Porter, Debbie Porter, Wayland Porter Jr, Bonnie (Chuck) Hatch, Lisa (Steve) Wilson, and Robert (Becky) Porter; sister Carol (Harmon) Johnson; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. When Wayland is laid to rest back in Vermont, the family will celebrate his life with a service there.
