Walter Raymond Olsen

Walter Raymond Olsen February 28, 1920 September 10, 2009 Salem, Oregon Walter was born in Ryegate, Montana. He finished school there and began working with his father. He joined the Army-Air Force and served during WWII as an airplane mechanic. He married Norma Helmey in October of 1944. They raised 3 children. She preceded him in death in 1989. His trade was a Millwright and he retired in 1985. He married Margery Ollis in 1990 and they enjoyed 19 years of happiness. Walter spent time fishing and had a glorious time dancing with Margery doing Polkas and Jazz. He was a member of the American Legion, both Lebanon and Albany Chapters. Also the Elks, Moose and Eagles Clubs. He loved his children & grandchildren. He leaves behind his wife, Margery; daughters, Rae Lynn (Darrell) Jones, Diana Williams; son, Ed Olsen; step children, Steve (Stephanie) Ollis, Susan (Kirk) McFarland; sister, Mae (Otto) Weinhold; grandchildren, Shelly, Shawn, Kim and Kristy; step grandchildren, Lindsey, Katie and Kyle and 8 great grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2009 at The Turner Christian Church, 7871 Marion Rd., Turner, OR. Contributions to Odyssey Hospice. Arrangements by Weddle Funeral Services.
