Walt A. Nelson

Walter A. “Walt” Nelson Aug. 10, 1932 – Jan. 30, 2011 Walt was born at Astoria, Oregon.  He attended the Willamette University.  He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He had worked as a mental health therapist at the Oregon State Hospital for over 30 yrs. before retiring.  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and gardening.  He was an avid rock collector and had made jewelry as well. He is survived by his children, Carl (Sue) Nelson  of Salem, Amanda (Eric) Jensen of Salem, Hailey Nelson of Keizer and Robert (Jaymaca) Nelson of Salem; brother, Ken Carlson of Astoria9 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. A private family gathering will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services Stayton, OR.
