Wallis “Wally” Wayne Wengenroth, 91, of Salem passed away on October 20, 2022.
He was the youngest of 4 children born to Walter and Fern (Baillie) Wengenroth in Woodburn, Oregon on March 7, 1931.
Wally served with the National Guard of Oregon from 1947 to 1949 at which point he joined the United States Army where he honorably served until 1952. He was stationed in Japan during the Korean War.
Once Wally was back home he met and instantly fell in love with Patricia L. Dayson. They were married on March 19, 1954. They welcomed two children and happily raised them in Keizer. Wally was the Mechanical Superintendent at Boise Cascade Corporation in Salem. He retired from there on July 31, 1988, after working there for 36 years.
After retirement they relocated to the Oregon Coast where they called Lincoln City and Depoe Bay home.
Wally was a family man to his core and loved his wife and family endlessly, always putting their needs first. He also showed his love for animals by rescuing and caring for many pets throughout his life. He loved engineering, mechanics, woodworking, and painting. He had a special talent for building and fixing just about anything and was always willing to help his family, friends, and neighbors with their special projects and repairs.
Wally is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Walter Wengenroth, William Wengenroth, and Donna Mathis.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Wengenroth; children, Terry and Seth Hyden and Gary Wengenroth; grandchildren, Lynzi R., Sydni L., Angela M., and Michael W.; and great grandchildren, Mia R., Lynn L., Gavin W., and Skylee M.
