W. Tilman Rains was born October 16th, 1927 in Gates, OR to Tillman Rains and Sarah Ellen (Groblebe) Rains. After high school he joined the United States Army Air Forces as a Air traffic Service Technician and honorably served until 1947. He married Shirley A. Miller in Mill City, Oregon on June 7, 1953 and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Tilman worked in the grocery business and besides work enjoyed gardening, painting, carpentry, woodwork, landscaping. He was a member of Grace Communion International Church in Salem, Oregon W. Tilman passed away on July 24th, 2018 at his home in Stayton, OR surrounded by his family. He was 90 years old. He was proceeded in death by his father Tillman Rains; mother Sarah Rains; brothers Leon Cline and Bud Cline; Sister Marie Toepher, and Great Grandson Ethan Stovall. W. Tilman is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; children Debra Louise Chambers, Pamela Kaye Alfson, Julie Ann Warren, Kevin Leon Rains and Roger Dale Rains; brothers; sister; 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchild. A service for Tilman Rains will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 3:30 pm at Weddle Funeral Service in Stayton, Oregon followed by a graveside committal at Fairview Cemetery in Gates, OR where he will be honored by the Air force for his service to this country. In the beginning Jesus already existed. Jesus was with God. And Jesus was God. Jesus was already with God in the beginning everything came into existence through Jesus. Not one thing that exists was made without Jesus. Jesus was the source of life and that life was the light for humanity. The light shines in the dark and the dark has never extinguished it. -John 1:1-5
