Virginia Chadwick, a beloved mother, grandmother, Lola and friend, passed on November 13, 2024, Portland, Oregon, shortly before her 72nd birthday. Born on November 23, 1952, in Tondo, Manila, Philippines, Virginia embodied warmth and generosity throughout her life. She married the love of her life, Craig William Chadwick on February 26, 1982, in Angeles City, Philippines. Together, they made their home in Aumsville, Oregon and began a beautiful family and life.
Virginia was a dedicated homemaker who lovingly raised her children—Gina, Jenny, and Aaron. She approached her role as a mother with unmatched dedication and pride, often reflecting that her greatest accomplishments included being a mother, a friend, and a wife. She made a significant impact on the lives of her grandchildren, showering them with lots of love.
A woman of remarkable spirit and endless energy, Virginia was known for her ability to make friends wherever she went. Her personality was one of warmth, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a comforting meal with anyone in need. “She would give the shirt off her back,” family and friends would fondly recall, highlighting how she genuinely cared for those around her. Virginia’s kind heart and thoughtful nature endeared her to everyone who crossed her path. Many of her friends have stories of how Virginia brought them a comforting meal or help them in whatever way needed, and there was always a seat at her table to eat the best Filipino food.
Virginia enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life filled with many hobbies. She could often be found immersing herself in crocheting and cooking, creating the best lumpia that delighted all who had the pleasure of tasting it. Many people received Virginia's veggies that she would grow from her very own garden. It made her so happy to give her wonderful and abundant harvest away every season. She found joy in playing bingo and mahjong, and her musical talents shone brightly when she sang karaoke or danced, she brought the energy to any family gathering.
Her professional journey included roles at Norpac Cannery and Keizer Retirement Home, demonstrating her commitment to both family and community. Even in her work, Virginia brought her spirited approach to life, epitomizing hard work and a ceaseless desire to stay active and engaged.
Virginia is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Craig William Chadwick, and by her parents, Canuto and Magdalena Binuya; siblings, Corazon Binuya Blanco, Edgardo Dela Cruz Binuya, and Natividad Dela Cruz Binuya Blancas.
She is survived by children, Gina Lierman, Jenny Chadwick, and Aaron Chadwick; grandchildren, Connor Lierman, Hunter Lierman, and Jocelyn Wunderlich and sibling, Alberto Dela Cruz-Binuya in addition to many extended family and friends.
Accompanied by the spirit of love she cultivated in life, Virginia's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, passion for life, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved.
