Vera I. Roach August 7, 1918 March 19, 2010 Stayton, Oregon Vera Ida Roach peacefully passed away March 19, 2010. She was 92 years old. Vera was born in Scio but lived all her years in Stayton. She graduated from Stayton High School in 1936, and married the love of her life, Donald, in 1937. She and her husband had two sons, Jack (who died in infancy) and William. After Don returned from World War II, they bought her parents shoe store, Burmester and Lancefield Shoes and Repair, in Stayton, and renamed it B&R Shoes. After their collection of antiques and clocks grew too large to house, the collection was sold in the store, Antiques Etc., owned by her brother Glen. The family owned the store, and fit shoes and sold antiques to many of Staytons residents. Vera was an antique expert and loved to tell stories about the antiques to the customers who purchased them. Vera will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her dear sister Harriett Malloy, her son William Roach, her five grandchildren; Amy Roach, Jon Roach, Sara Filanoski, Nate Roach and Donald Roach, her two great grandchildren Peter Filanolki and Josey Roach, and her dear friends Tim and Cindy Burns. Vera was preceded in death by her loving husband Don, and her four siblings, Bob, Glen, Leona and Harry. The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeside Assisted Living for their attentiveness and love for the nine years Vera lived there. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Willamette Valley Hospice Care. The remains of Mrs. Roach will be interred next to her husband Don at Lone Oak Cemetery. There will be a graveside service for Vera on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 2:00 P.M.
