Tina Presnell

Immacolata (Titina) Presnell, longtime Roseburg resident, died  February 3 at her home in Salem, Oregon, surrounded by her family. Tina was born in Naples, Italy in 1927, the second of 12 children. During World War II she met and fell in love with Charles Presnell, a GI from rural North Carolina. They eventually married and settled in Roseburg, where they raised 3 children and owned a construction company. Tina worked at the VA Medical Center for more than 30 years as a CNA, retiring after Charlies death in 1982. She also owned the Deli and Yogurt Garden for many years. Through feast and famine, war and peace, Tina witnessed many historic events of the 20th century. Her family was always amazed at the tremendous courage it took for a young woman to leave everyone and everything she knew behind, to begin life in a country whose language she did not speak and where she knew only 3 people.  She told colorful stories about her life in Italy before the war, as well as her early life in America as she learned many new things through the patient teaching of her loving husband. Tina is survived by her daughter Julie (Greg) Snider of Roseburg, son David (Kathy) Presnell of Salem, and her beloved 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who proudly called her Nonna.  She was a powerful presence in their lives, and will be sorely missed.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, son Raymond, and many of her siblings. A memorial will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 4 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 1864 NW Calkins Ave in Roseburg.
