Thomas "Tom" Young

Tom Allen Young, born on August 31, 1951, in Pasadena, California, embarked on his final journey on May 10th, 2024. He was a man of profound strength, kindness, and wit, leaving behind a legacy cherished by all who knew him.

Tom sealed his lifelong commitment to love when he married Maggie Foreman on April 22, 1971, in California. Their union was a testament to enduring love, spanning over five decades. Born and educated in California, Tom's thirst for opportunity led him to Oregon in 1984, where he sought greater horizons. For their 50th wedding anniversary, he and Maggie renewed their vows in front of family and friends.

Professionally, Tom was a trailblazer. His journey began in 1977 with a battery company, but his entrepreneurial spirit soon led him to establish his own successful venture. His dedication and hard work inspired many, leaving an indelible mark on those he encountered.

Described as a "grouchy old man" with a heart of gold, Tom was known for his straightforwardness and sage advice. His home was an open door, welcoming all who crossed its threshold. He embodied the role of everyone's dad, offering warmth, guidance, and unwavering support.

In his leisure, Tom found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether nurturing his grandchildren, tending to his beloved plants, immersing himself in computer games, or indulging in his fondness for Costco outings, he lived each moment to the fullest.

Tom faced life's challenges with courage and resilience. His battles with cancer, a triple bypass, and a motorcycle accident exemplified his unwavering strength and determination.

Though Tom departed too soon, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he cherished. He was preceded in death by his granddaughters Kassandra Young and Kristina Krutsinger, as well as his mother in 2012.

Tom is survived by a loving family who will forever hold him close in their memories: his children Steve Young, Laura Hoffman, Allen Young, Bonny Krutsinger, Tony Young, and Tonya Wooten; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his devoted wife Maggie Young; and his siblings Sarah Thomas, Jackie Swartz, Vickie Baldwin, Suzie Lopez, Tim Young, and Takie Lea Young.

In celebrating Tom's life, let us cherish the moments shared, the wisdom imparted, and the love that will forever endure. Though he may be physically absent, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all. Rest in peace, dear Tom.
