Terry Finley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated servant to his country, passed away on October 29, 2024, at the age of 74. Terry was born on September 20, 1950, to Carl and Margaret "Midge" Finley, who raised him alongside his siblings, Carla Thornhill and the late Randy Finley. He spent his childhood in the Northwest, growing up in Tigard, Oregon.
Terry proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was a Corporal in Golf Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Amphibious Corps, 5th Marine Amphibious Brigade Fleet Marine Force. He served in the Vietnam War and was honored with the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, and the Combat Action Ribbon. Following his military service, Terry pursued his passion for mechanics, earning an associate's degree in the field. He worked as a mechanic for many years, sharing his knowledge and skill with others, before dedicating his later years to serving veterans through his work with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) until his retirement.
Outside of work, Terry was an avid outdoorsman, spending much of his free time fishing, hunting, and enjoying nature. Whether he was on a quiet lake with a fishing rod in hand or hiking through Oregon’s wooded trails, Terry found peace and joy in the outdoors.
Terry is survived by his loving children, Nathan Finley and Carrie Jackson; and his cherished grandchildren, Lexi Jackson, Emma Finley, and Ashton Finley. He will also be fondly remembered by his sister, Carla Thornhill, and many friends and extended family who admired his kindness, strength, and gentle sense of humor.
