Steven Wayne Jarose, Sr. passed away at his home in Scio, OR on June 24, 2020. Steven was born on July 18, 1955 in Eureka, CA to Richard and Eileen (Hiers) Jarose. He was the youngest of the 4 children born to the family. He graduated from Eureka High School in 1973. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. His career in the Navy took him around the world! He was stationed aboard ships throughout the Pacific, Africa and the Middle East several times during his Naval Career. He served during the Gulf War, Vietnam War and Desert Storm. He attained the rank of Senior Chief Surface Warfare, and was a Military Designated Master Mechanic. Steven married his wife, Jeannie, on May 21, 1985 in California. In 1992, Jeannie moved to Oregon with Steven’s son Steven Jr. After Steven was honorably discharged in 1993, he joined his family in Oregon, and served several months as a Naval Reservist. Steven was an active member of the North Santiam Gleanors – he made many friends during his time with the organization, and he loved being a part of their organization. Steven had many hobbies – he enjoyed fishing, working on cars, yardwork, camping and the great outdoors. He was the ultimate handyman – if you gave him a toolbox, he could fix anything. He was an intelligent, self-taught man with a heart of gold. He had an incredible memory and could recall details from events that happened years ago! He was proud of his service in the Navy, but he was also very humble and quiet. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Steven is survived by his loving wife, Jeannie Jarose; his children, Steven Jarose, Jr., Shelly Allen, Angela Castanon and Thomas Eakin; his siblings, Gary ross, Mike Jarose and Pamela Jarose; as well as his many beloved grandchildren. Memorial contributions in Steven’s honor can be made to Scio Christian Church. Services are pending at this time.
