Steven Wayne Poindexter, born on April 19, 1944, in Laramie, Wyoming, to Julia Corey and Charles Poindexter, led a life marked by service, dedication, and a love for the outdoors. After finishing high school, Steve joined the U.S. Navy, where he served for four years and earned the Vietnam Service Medal.
Following his military service, Steve worked for Country Coach and ultimately retired as a Steel Fabrication Supervisor in 2009. In September 1970, he married Darline Woods. Together, they built a life in Philomath, Oregon, with their daughter Lisa.
Steve was an active member of the Philomath Frolic Rodeo Committee and involved in 4-H with his daughter, where they cared for horses. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, including horseback riding, hunting, taxidermy, skiing, and flying with his pilot's license.
Steve was known for his kindness, generosity, dependability, and his love for flannel shirts. He is survived by his daughter Lisa MacDonald, his sisters, Carolyn and Vicki, and his grandchildren, Joey, Cory, Jamie, and Chad, as well as great-grandchildren Peyton, Riley, Aurora, and Briar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Julia and his beloved wife Darline.
