Stephen Eugene Mcconnell

Stephen Eugene McConnell was born October 29, 1953, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to J.B. and Ruby (Gilmore) McConnell. When Steve was young, the family moved to Oakdale, California, where he attended school. Steve married Lynnette Turner in January of 1974, and the couple had one daughter. In 1980, Steve and Lynnette moved to Scio, Oregon, where they settled permanently. Steve worked in construction, starting out working for his dad and eventually ventured out on his own and started Cloud ‘9 Construction. Steve also raised livestock on his property in Scio. Steve trained hunting hounds and loved to chase them around anywhere they could go. He didn’t always shoot what they tracked; he was just in it for the love of the chase. Steve was always up for an adventure. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his granddaughters making cherished memories. Steve will be remembered as a loyal and compassionate man, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Surrounded by his loving family, he passed away peacefully on May 14, 2020. Steve will be dearly missed by his family and friends including his wife of 45 years, Lynnette; daughter Kerri Hyde and son-in-law Greg Hyde; granddaughters Jesse, Cassi and Shelbi Hyde; parents JB and Ruby McConnell; brothers Terry McConnell and Kevin McConnell; sister Karen Huffman; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Tammie McConnell. A Celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Sunday, July 12, at 2 pm at the Hyde residence.   --
