SHIRLEY HAINES September 21, 1922 – April 20, 2011 Stayton, Oregon Shirley Irene Haines passed away, surrounded by her family as she joined her heavenly father. Shirley was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska the only child of Everett and Louise Wilson. Shirley met her husband Elmer Haines in January 1943 in Climax, Colorado and they were married June 30, 1943. Elmer worked in the theatre business and together they enjoyed a wonderful life living in Sidney, Nebraska. They adopted their only child, Priscilla on October 8, 1956 from the Nebraska Children’s home. In 1962 they relocated to Los Angeles, California where Elmer managed several theatres including the world famous Grauman’s Chinese theatre. After retirement, Elmer and Shirley moved to Stayton, Oregon to be closer to family. Together they enjoyed golf, traveling and spending time with their granddaughter Hilary. After Elmer passed in 2004, Shirley moved to the Marion Estates, Sloper residence where she met many new friends. In January 2011, she relocated to Lakeside Assisted Living where she resided until her passing. Shirley was very active in D.A.R., Friends of the Library and loved to watch movies and play cards. She loved her family, her extended family and her new great granddaughter. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Priscilla (John) Karr; granddaughter, Hilary (Tom) Barber; great granddaughter, Autumn Brooke Barber. Her love, caring, generosity and strength will be an inspiration to her family and friends forever. And forever she will be in our hearts.
