"Sandy"

Amanda, “Sandy” as many knew her, went home to be with the Lord on November 14, 2021. She was truly a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was an inspiration to all with her enthusiasm for life and her love of family. Amanda was born to the late Margaret and John Lorenz at Watauga, South Dakota, and was the third youngest of 16 living children. She attended public school south of Watauga until her parents moved to Golden Valley, North Dakota, when she was seven years old. She continued her education at the country school near Zap, North Dakota. After her father died, her mother and two sisters, Ruby and Violet, moved into the town of Zap. The summer of 1946, she stayed with her sister Maggie and her husband Bill Schell. Later that year she would attend a Christmas/New Year’s party at the Fike School in the North Dakota hills near her sister’s place. Her friends, Christ and Marie Schell, introduced her to the love of her life and future husband. On June 26, 1947, they were united in marriage at Lutheran Church in Sidney, Montana, and made their home in Fairview, Montana. Ellis worked in beet fields but did not care for the work, so they decided to move back to the farm in North Morristown. They made their home there and were blessed with six children: Ronny, Bonny, Terry, Randy, Chuck, and Ritchie. The summer of 1979 or 1980 they made the huge move to Oregon where she would remain for the rest of her life. Amanda was preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret Lorenz; her son Randy; and many of her brothers and sisters. She leaves behind her husband Ellis; sons Ron (Kris), Terry (Tricia), Bonny (Clyde), Chuck (Debbie), and Ritchie (Donna Rae); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Violet (Gilbert); and many cousins and friends.
