Sandra "Sandy" Evans Profile Photo

Sandra was born on August 20, 1957 in Helena, Montana to Thomas Wilson and Esther Touchette. She was their only daughter and enjoyed her childhood with 5 brothers. Having her brothers gave her the knack later in life when she would join the Army as a Chinook mechanic and serve active duty time in Germany and Switzerland. Eventually, she would receive her honorable discharge and start a life as a mom, but continue a career as a welder.  Sandy never worried about having a job that was considered “man’s work”. She worked for Aggregated Machinery in Oregon and loved to weld and had a great talent for it. Sandy was often told that her welds looked like a clean stack of dimes lined up in a row. She would weld rock crushers, aluminum and hard steel. She was never intimidated to work in and industry dominated by men. She was feisty, independent and an incredibly hard worker. Not only could she weld but she could work on vehicles too. If it came to changing oil or breaks on her vehicle, Sandy had no problem doing it. She would work until just a few years ago when she became sick. On December 18, 2019 at the age of 62 she passed away surrounded by loved ones in Portland, Oregon. She was preceded in death by all of her brothers and a son, Peter Samorzes. She is survived by her children, Zachory Lindgren, Rhianna Harr and Skyler Whiteley; and 6 grandchildren. Private family services will be held at inurnment will take place at Willamette National Cemetery.
