Sally Patricia Thomas

Sally Patricia Thomas was born March 27, 1937, in Toledo, Oregon, to Oscar DeWitt and Agnes Ella (Baldwin) Brown. The family lived in the Valsetz area until Sally was five and they moved to Tigard, Oregon. After graduating from Tigard Union High School, Sally attended Oregon State College and earned a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. Right out of college, Sally married John Murray Thomas and the couple settled into life as dairy farm owners. For a few years Sally taught home economics at a local high school but decided to become a fulltime homemaker as their family grew to three children. While the kids were growing up, Sally was always room mom for their classrooms and even became a member of the grade school board where the kids attended. She loved to bake for her family and enjoyed sewing, always making the kids’ Halloween costumes. Sally was a loving and caring mother, always concerned over the well being of her family. In 1998, as the city encroached on the borders of their dairy farm in Tigard, Sally and John decided to sell and relocate to a dairy farm near Scio, Oregon, where things were much quieter. Unfortunately, just a few months after moving to Scio, John unexpectedly passed-away. Their childen kept the farm running for a couple of years before they decided to sell the cows, and a short time later they sold the farm. Sally went to work in home health care for a while and enjoyed the work. But Sally’s greatest passion was her grandchildren and she loved them all dearly. She spent time with them whenever she could and attended their events whenever possible. Sally even had the opportunity to care for her five oldest grandchildren while their parents worked. Eventually her son’s family moved back to Cornelius and Sally moved to the Wilsonville area for a time to be nearer to her kids. Several years ago, she moved to Marion Estates in Sublimity where she remained until she passed-away on December 3, 2020.  Sally was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Agnes, her husband John, and her grandson Jacob Thomas. She is survived by her children John (Jackie) Thomas, Jill Thomas, and Jay Scott Thomas; 11 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Sally will be laid to rest beside her husband John at Crescent Grove Cemetery in Tigard.
