Sadie Louise Rinner

Sadie was born in Santa Ana, California, to Fred Allen and Edna Lenora (Chesley) Bray. She grew up with a sister and four brothers in the San Diego area, where she spent most of her life. Her childhood best friend, Margaret Ellen, had an older brother named Duane that Sadie grew up knowing. Duane went off to war, and when he returned, he realized that Sadie had grown up. They fell in love and the two were married on November 21, 1953, and raised four children together. Sadie loved being a homemaker and everything she did was centered on their kids. She made sure they made it to all of their various baseball and softball games, and often would be found keeping score. Sadie and Duane also coached their kids’ teams. When the kids were young, the family traveled the United States in their camper. They enjoyed seeing places like Washington, Oklahoma, Arizona, Idaho, the Sierras, and Yosemite to name just a few. When Duane and Sadie were younger, there was one thing they enjoyed outside of their family, and that was square dancing. Duane’s dream was always to move to Oregon where some extended family lived. Sadie loved him so much and aspired to make sure he could live out his dream, so when he retired before the age of 60, the couple set out for Oregon. They settled in Lyons and lived out their days in the home they purchased there together. The couple was blessed to have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before Duane’s passing on July 3, 2005. Sadie was lost without the love of her life, but she really enjoyed outings with others, like trips to the casino with her daughter. Sadie was preceded in death by her husband Duane, her parents, and her four brothers Charles, Arthur, Fred and Allen. She is survived by her children Debra Rinner, Martin Rinner, Eddie Rinner, and Brenda Lycan; her sister Verna; grandchildren Danny, Lana, Keith and Lauren; and great-grandchildren Marissa and Jasmine. A private celebration to honor Sadie’s life will be held by family. They are also planning to have a memorial marker placed at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon, for both Sadie and Duane in honor of his military service.
