Ryan Mendiola Calvo

Ryan Mendiola Calvo was born on February 3, 1980 in Bremerton, Washington to Robert Calvo and Rosita Mendiola. Ryan grew up loving to play football, baseball, and wrestling. He was part of the honor roll and graduated from Central High School in 1998. Throughout his life he lived in Bremerton, Rota, San Diego, Salem and most recently Vancouver, WA. In 2016 Ryan married the love of his life, Rachel Mikaele Calvo in Salem, Oregon. They had a beautiful wedding surrounded by all of their beloved family. Ryan loved his family- he was a social butterfly who could was great at getting everyone together for a family gathering. He was also known for his excellent BBQ’ing skills and he loved to cook traditional islander food. He would often post his culinary creations to Facebook and say it was “Bedder Dan McDonalds”. He was really proud of his cooking and it made him even happier when people enjoyed his food. He loved music and would often sing or listen to Island music.  Ryan worked for the Oregon State Penitentiary as a correctional officer and most recently was a foreman at Contech. He was an incredibly hard worker and excelled at whatever he put his mind to. But most of all Ryan was a beloved husband, son, brother and dad who loved his family with all his heart. On April 6, 2020 Ryan passed away at age 40 in Salem, Oregon. Ryan was preceded in death by his father, Robert Songoa Calvo, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Calvo; children, Louseioriana Mahealani, Kaylynn Ha’ani Calvo and Lexus Finau; his parents, Rosita (James) Garvin; siblings, Robert (Kristy) Calvo, Ron (Lori) Calvo, Roland (Mannette) Calvo, Bobby (Rani) Apuron; nieces/nephews, Tia, Shai, Alana, Namiko, Kohana, Kailah, Azsalee, Iyland, Jabriel, Ximeon, Brycen, Ana, Austin, Justin, Jesse, Devin, Melody.
