Ryan Andrew Bishop

July 30, 1950 January 30, 2013 Aumsville, Oregon Resident Ryan was born in Salem, OR to Andrew and Hazel Bishop.  He grew up on the familys farm outside Aumsville.  Ryan attended Cascade High School where he was very active in FFA earning his American Farmer Degree.  After graduating he went on to Oregon State University where in 1972 he received his Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Economics.  While in college he was active in the Farmhouse Fraternity and became a volunteer firefighter for the Corvallis Fire District.  In 1973 he married Claudia Grossnicklaus whom he met while attending OSU.  Together they went on to raise their three children Jason, Kristin and Brandon on the family farm.  Ryan followed in his fathers footsteps operating the family farm where he raised crops for various companies including Norpac Foods.  While farming was his career, his passion was serving as a volunteer firefighter.  Ryan joined the Aumsville Rural Fire Department in 1972.  He rose through the ranks and eventually became a Division Chief.  Ryan was very active in his over 40 years of service to the department.  Ryan was also active in the community serving on several boards and committees including Turner Elementary School Board, Cascade FFA Advisory Board, and Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District among others.  Ryan is survived by his wife Claudia, sons; Jason and Brandon (Sarah) of Aumsville, daughter Kristin of McMinnville, and three grandchildren; Travis, Matthew and Taylor.  Services for Ryan will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Aumsville Fire Station with a reception to follow.  Contributions may be made in his honor to the Aumsville Fire District or the Cascade FFA Chapter.
