Ruth B. Powell

April 19, 1927 January 8, 2014 Ruth was born in Salem, Oregon.  She married John Powell and they made their home in the Willamette Valley.  She began work in the cannerys but later went to work for the Oregon State Hospital as a seamstress.  She retired after 20 years.  Ruth enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables.  She spent many hours doing handcrafts.  She enriched her life through reading and traveling to many places such as England, Hawaii, Alaska and across the mainland states.  She will be missed by her daughters; Kathy Looney and Carol Weaver, 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, a nephew, Vernon Naftzger and a niece, Cecile Baker.  A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 3:00 P.M.  at Providence Cemetery in Scio.  Memorial Service will follow at 4:00 P.M. at Weddle Funeral Chapel, Stayton.
