Russell Alan Prinzing, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2023, in Keizer, Oregon. Born on March 16, 1960, in Hood River, Oregon, to Mavis Pyle and Gerald Prinzing, Russell lived a life full of love, adventure, and service to his country.
Russell was a proud and dedicated member of the United States Navy. He enlisted in 1977 and was stationed on the USS John Young, a Spruance Class Destroyer. During his five years of service, Russell demonstrated unwavering commitment to his country and fellow servicemen and women. His time in the Navy not only shaped his character but also instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism and duty that he carried with him throughout his life.
Upon returning to civilian life, Russell pursued his passion for fishing. He spent countless hours on the water, casting his line and reeling in memories with friends and family. Russell's love for fishing was infectious, and he was always eager to share his knowledge and expertise with others. His patience and skill as a fisherman were matched only by his generosity and kindness, qualities that endeared him to all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Mavis; brother, Jay Prinzing; and sisters, Sherriee Bush and Kelly Boyette. His father, Gerald, preceded him in death. Russell's love for his family was evident in the time and care he devoted to them.
As we remember and celebrate the life of Russell Alan Prinzing, let us honor his memory by following his example of kindness, generosity, and service. May we strive to live our lives with the same passion and dedication that Russell demonstrated in his own.
