Ronald Kent Sowerby, 79, of Stayton, Oregon, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024. Ron was born on October 27, 1945, in Ogden, Utah, to Melvin and Melba (Johnson) Sowerby. He grew up in Ogden, attending Ogden High School, where he graduated before embarking on a career in sales and accounting.

On February 14, 1994, Ron married the love of his life, Ann. The two first met in junior high school in Ogden and rekindled their relationship decades later at a high school reunion. Over the course of their 30-year marriage, Ron and Ann built a life filled with joy, laughter, and cherished family moments.

Ron had a lifelong passion for classic cars and was a proud member of the Willamette Valley Street Rods and the Roadkill Kruzers. Alongside his beloved wife Ann, he showcased their renowned 1957 Buick Super at numerous car shows, earning many awards and trophies. Ron was instrumental in organizing and participating in cruise-ins and automobile shows, creating lasting memories with fellow enthusiasts. The Buick, which Ann drove as a teenager, was lovingly restored by Ron and became a symbol of their shared love for cars and life’s adventures.

Ron had an affinity for 1950s and early 1960s music but appreciated all genres. He enjoyed working on cars, solving crossword puzzles, watching sports, and catching episodes of *Jeopardy!* and *Wheel of Fortune*. A sweet tooth for Oreos and ice cream, an interest in trains, and a deep love for his family rounded out his many passions. Ron was proud of his children and grandchildren, cherishing every holiday, birthday, and family gathering.

Throughout his life, Ron lived in Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, California, and Oregon. He also gave back to his community, serving as a Cubmaster for the Boy Scouts and a Little League coach for his sons. Known for his caring nature, quick wit, and great sense of humor, Ron left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Melba, and his brother, Melvin Sowerby, Jr. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ann Sowerby; his sons, Michael Green, Travis (Kayla) Sowerby, Jeremiah (Alex) Sowerby, and Jonathon (Laurie) Sowerby; his daughter, Joelle (Brian) Creager; his stepdaughter, Michelle (Brad) Asson; his sister, Melinda (Val) Williams; and his beloved grandchildren, Coulter, Breann, Brandi, Kyler, Wyatt, Emmett, Noah, Oliver, Daphne, Oskar, Ethan, Rylie, Owen, Addisyn, Steel, Flora, and Nixon.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Weddle Funeral Service in Stayton, Oregon, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM. A private burial will take place at Ogden City Cemetery in Ogden, Utah.
