Ronald Joseph Redford was born December 31, 1963, in Portland, Oregon, to Ronald Guy and Johna (Berg) Redford. Ronald grew up in the Molalla/Silverton area and attended schools in both towns, graduating from Silverton High School in 1982. He loved sports, especially basketball, and he played throughout his school years. At a young age, Ronald became an avid fisherman and as he grew older, he began to enjoy hunting and that became his passion. If you could eat it, he would hunt it. Ronald loved spending time outdoors in nature. He also was a fantastic cook, especially cooking outdoors, cooking over open flame or directly in the fire with tinfoil. He loved the beach and spending time there, and was a seafood fanatic, enjoying any food that came from the ocean. Right out of high school Ronald enlisted in the Air Force, serving his country from 1982 to 1987. Upon his return home he took work as a machinist and worked for a company in Newberg for over 25 years. Except for his time in the Air Force, Ronald lived his whole life in the Willamette Valley and spent 20 of those years in Donald. Ronald had a broad range of personality traits, a little bit of everything all rolled into one. Depending on the situation, he could be quiet and serious or loud and jovial. Ronald loved his family more than anything and would do anything for those he loved, especially for his mother whom he adored and doted on. One of the tasks he enjoyed was cutting and bringing in wood for family members to burn for the winter. The nieces and nephews loved their Uncle Ronald, and he adored playing with the children. On March 3, 2021, Ronald passed away at his home in Silverton. Ronald will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind including his beloved mother Johna Rickard; father Ronald Guy Redford; daughter Rebecca (Matt) Abner of North Dakota; siblings Peggy (Rick) Buxton of Grand Junction, Colorado, Bill (Cate) Warner of Silverton, Oregon, Stella (Terry) Billings of Silverton, Oregon, and Travis (Kristina) Redford of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughters Mercades, Justyce, and Shawna; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many other extended family members.
