Robert Samuel Brant of Sublimity, Oregon was born on November 4, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas to Wilbur James Brant and Jean Carolin (Unruh) Brant.  Robert came from a military family so moved around a lot as a child.  Ultimately, the family would end up in Neosho, Missouri where Robert would graduate from high school.  Soon after high school he would join the United States Navy and would serve proudly until being Honorably Discharged in 1967 with the rating of SKSN.  Settling into civilian life, Robert would attend and graduate from Pittsburg State University in Kansas with a bachelor degree in business with focus on accounting.  After college he would move to Tulsa, Oklahoma and would start working as an accountant.  He would do that for many years until he decided one day that he had enough and would go back to school to get his teaching certificate.  While in Tulsa, Robert would meet Denise Smock while at a church singles group meeting.  An old flame would be rekindled and the two would marry on April 8, 1989.  This courtship would soon see them welcoming a son Timothy.  Robert was very proud of his son and everything that he would grow up to accomplish.  As an adult and in following with a strong legacy of military service, Timothy would join the US Army obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and being stationed at MacDill Airforce base. In 1999 the family would move to Oregon after some convincing from other members of the family who were already living in Oregon. Once moving to Stayton, Robert became very active in his community with memberships in the Knights of Columbus, VFW and the American Legion to name a few.  He would also volunteer his time with the local Boy Scout chapter.  In his spare time Robert enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and spending time with family. He was very musically inclined and enjoyed playing many instruments such as the piano, trombone, and guitar.  When he wasn’t playing music, he was listening to it. He had one of the biggest cd collections of anyone. Roberts faith was very important to him.  He was very active in church and was a member of the St. Boniface Choir in which he participated proudly. On August 5, 2019 Robert passed away in Corvallis, Oregon.  He was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Jean; and brother Harold.  He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Denise; Son, Timothy Robert Brant; and sister Catherine Joann Chesebro. The recitation of the Rosary will take place at Weddle Funeral Service on Friday August 9 with the Mass of Christian Burial taking place on August 10 at 10 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sublimity, Oregon.
