Robert Charles Combs December 21, 1940 April 18, 2018 Willamina, Oregon Robert passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a valiant year-long battle with cancer. He was born  in Colville, Washington, to Robert and Winnifred Combs. After graduating from Colville High School, Robert joined the US Air Force and served for about three years in the early 1960s. When he returned home, he worked for Boeing for many years and  installed the landing gear on the first 747. He spent much of his life driving truck and absolutely loved his work. Robert also spent time working for Siletz trucking and Maben trucking, drove long haul for a while, and most recently worked at Hofenbredl Logging right up until his diagnosis last year. After many years as just friends, Robert and Linda started dating a couple of years ago and were married at Crossroads Worship Center in Willamina on May 12, 2017. Although their time together was not nearly as long as they would have wished for, they made the most of the couple of years they had together. He loved his family and was a truly amazing grandpa and loved to spend time with his grandkids. His other love was his cute little dachshund, Vanitee Faere. Robert was a little bit of everything all rolled into one. He was ornery and you just had to give it back to him the same way. But he had a tender heart, not only for his family and loved ones, but also for those that struggled with homelessness; he just could not stand the thought of someone not having a roof over their head. Robert was also fun-loving and funny, with quite the sense of humor. He enjoyed giving his family a bad time, all in good fun and full of love. If necessary, he could also be serious if the situation called for it. He was deeply loved and will be missed so much by those who loved him. Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Linda; children Robert and Theresa; step-daughters Toni and Tami; and stepchildren Cherise (William) Eaton, Patrick Briseno, Alyssa (Kevin) Dickerson, and Daniel (Elizabeth)Briseno; siblings Peggy (Terry) Jarvis and Richard Dick (Enna) Combs; numerous grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two great-grandchildren on the way. A Celebration of Life for Robert is pending at Crossroads Worship Center in Willamina.
