Bob was born on March 12, 1943 in Duluth, Minnesota to Rayburn and Margaret (Fogel) Kilby. At age 11 he moved to California and then moved to Oregon in 1975. At the age of 18, Bob joined the Air Force and became a flight line firefighter. On September 27, 1975 he married Terri Lou Altman in Silverton, Oregon. For the last 25 years he settled in Lyons, Oregon. Bob became a journeyman welder and eventually became a welding inspector for nuclear power plants. He would travel all over to inspect the work on new construction as well as maintenance on running plants to ensure they were safe. In addition to traveling for his work he did spend time at Trojan as an employee. Later on, Bob became a specialty mushroom farmer, raising shiitakes. Bob enjoyed many hobbies and activities; he was a Charter Member for Stayton’s Loyal Order of the Moose. He loved NASCAR, Karaoke and played Wii golf just about every day. He would spend time working on his property building a fish hatchery as well. Bob passed away on March 29, 2018 in Salem, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his oldest brother Richard Kilby and leaves behind his wife, Terri Lou Kilby; 2 adult daughters; his siblings, his brother Warren Kilby and his faithful companion Maxwell. A private family service is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made in Bob’s name to Stayton Moose Lodge PO Box 28 Stayton, OR 97383.
