Robby L. Jr. Merrell

Robby Loy Merrell Jr. June 30, 1965 – June 19, 2011 Silverton, Oregon Robby L. Merrell Jr. was born in Slaton, Texas on June 30, 1965, the son of Robby Sr. and Judy Merrell.  Robby was raised in Missouri and graduated from Glendale High School in Springfield, Missouri.  He served  in the Persian Gulf War as a marksmanship instructor as well as scout/sniper  in  the US Marine Corps having served as  a corporal.  During his military career,  he met Joan Heater and they were married on Feb. 17, 1991 in Silverton, Oregon.  They made their home in Silverton where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Silver Mountain Christmas Trees, and he later worked as a security officer for Allied Barton.  He enjoyed playing bluegrass music, especially the guitar, fiddle and mandolin. He is survived by his wife, Joan of Silverton; daughters, Rebecca of Missoula, Montana and Rachel of Silverton; mother, Judy Merrell of Silverton; brother, Rorry Merrell of Waxahachie, Texas; sister, Mistee Burch of Washington, Missouri. Celebration of Life service will be held at  Silver Creek Fellowship in Silverton on Thursday,  June 30th at 2:00 pm . Memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation or the Sublimity Fire District. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services Stayton, OR.
