Richard Lewis Gilmore

Richard died August 23 from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis ALS. Richard was born in Kennewick, Washington to Maynard and Laura Gilmore. He was one of 5 children.

He attended Salem Academy and Chemeketa Community College. He worked for many places in Salem and retired from the City of Salem after 28 years.

He married Rita Marler in 1998 and recently renewed their wedding vows in June this year.

He is survived by his wife Rita, stepson Keegan, and his cherished granddaughters Peyton, Raegan, and Reece. He also survived his Father, Maynard and siblings Chet, Laura Lee, Maynette, and Orval. He is preceded in death by his Mother Laura.

Richard enjoyed fishing, duck hunting camping, golf and cooking. Richard loved umpiring, which he did for 35 years making lifelong friends. Papa Rich loved with his entire heart. His smile lit up a room and the ball field.

Our lives are forever changed. We will see you again.

God now has the best angel. He will watch over all his loved ones.
