Richard Fred Green Profile Photo

Richard Fred Green, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Brownsville, OR on June 21, 2020. Richard was born on June 11, 1938 in Nutley, NJ to Victor and Jean (Reynolds) Green. When he was 12, the family moved from Nutley to Van Nuys, CA. At fifteen, Richard spent his high school summer vacation working for $1.00 an hour, sometimes 12 hours a day, to earn enough money to buy his first motorcycle. He was never without a motorcycle (sometimes owning as many as four) for the rest of his life.   After graduation he began his career in communications, where he worked on telephone lines. He worked for 33 years, and retired at age 59. He got bored with retirement and worked odd jobs for the next 5 years before fully retiring at age 65. Richard was married to Margaret Hadson for 42 years until her passing. Margaret had two children from a previous marriage and together she and Richard had a son and a daughter. After Margaret passed away, Richard was introduced to Nita Lowry, a widow who had also been married to her recently deceased husband for 42 years.  They met in the high desert of California, and the rest was history. They were married in 2008 and moved to Oregon in 2016. According to Nita, “Richard was the hardest working, most decent man I’ve ever known.” They had a wonderful, happy marriage. Richard is survived by his wife Nita, son Richard, Jr., his beloved daughter Dianna, two stepchildren from his marriage to Margaret, and three stepdaughters from his marriage to Nita, several grandchildren, a sister and a brother, as well as many other relatives. He will be greatly missed. At his request, no services will be held.
