Richard Leppig, son of Gottfried M and Lorette A (Cousineau) Leppig, entered this world September 21, 1938. He was born and raised in a small industrial town in New Jersey called Sayreville. After high school and a brief stint playing ping-pong at Rutgers, Richard joined the Navy and saw the world until 1960 when he devoted the next decade to acting. This culminated in a national tour of “Hello, Dolly!”, starring Dorothy Lamour. Richard then returned to Rutgers for more shenanigans until he migrated to California where he entered the insurance field, was trapped by his current wife, Pat, and retired in 2010 to enter “Later Life”. They settled in Sublimity, Oregon, and Richard started his weekly column, also named “Later Life”, in 2015 for the residents of Marian Estates in Sublimity. An active actor and comedian, he used his talents in his later life to support and grow the local Spotlight Community Theater. On August 31, 2021, Richard left this world, leaving behind his beloved wife, Patricia Berkey Leppig, and an entire community that just won’t be the same without him.
