Richard Allen Cook was born on March 9, 1951 in Cresco, Iowa to Arnold and Donna (Hodges) Cook. The family would move to Arizona and then to the Willamette Valley where Richard would graduate from Cascade High School in 1969. He would go on to get an Associates from Chemeketa Community College. On March 17, 1983 Richard joined the United States Army at the age of 32. He would serve until he was honorably discharged at the rank of SP4. After being discharged, he would work different jobs in Oregon before winding up in Las Vegas. In Las Vegas, Richard would go to work at the casinos where he would eventually work his way up to pit boss. Richard was very generous with his time and often gave it to others. Family was very important to him and he would make it a priority to him to make special trips to see every one of them. He enjoyed hunting fishing, and playing games; which he would often include members of his family in. He was also a volunteer coach with the Boys and Girls Club for well over 20 years, coaching both football and basketball. On October 14, 2019 Richard passed away in Salem, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his father Arnold Cook and brother Ronald Cook. He is survived by his mother, Donna Cook; Siblings, Robert Cook, Deloris Dittman and Dorothy Koehler; tortoise, Franklin; dog, Raven, and many nieces and nephews. A time for viewing will take place on October 26, 2019 at 1:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 2 PM both held at Weddle Funeral Service in Stayton, Oregon. A private internment will take place at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
