Ramona "Mary Lou" Henning-Scheer, age 94, of Sublimity, Oregon, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2024. She was born on June 4, 1929, in Elgin, Illinois, to the late Einar and Edna (Bleich) Dalby.
Ramona was one of four children, alongside her siblings Jim, Shirley, and William. On November 8, 1947, she exchanged vows with her beloved husband, Louis F. Henning, in Albany, Oregon. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Marge and Christine. Ramona was known not only for her dedication to her family but also for her warm-heartedness and nurturing spirit.
While she worked at the cannery, her primary focus and passion lay in being a devoted mother and wife. Ramona's kitchen was her sanctuary, she was renowned for her freshly baked bread and delicious fried chicken, she infused every dish with a generous measure of love. Her home was always filled with the inviting aroma of her cooking, creating cherished memories for her family and friends.
Ramona found joy in tending to her garden, pouring her heart into cultivating its beauty. For many years, she found community and spiritual fulfillment as a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Silverton, Oregon. She would also attend Calvary Lutheran Church in Stayton, Oregon, even in her later years her friends would pick her up so she could be included in Sunday worship.
Following the passing of her beloved husband, Louis, in 1997, Ramona found love and companionship once again when she married Frederick J. Scheer in 1998. Together, they shared precious moments until his passing.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, Louis Henning and Fred Scheer, her granddaughter, Molly Humphreys, and her siblings, Jim Dalby and William Dalby. She is survived by her daughters, Marge Henning and Christine Ruettgers, and her beloved grandchildren, Josh Humphreys, Cole Humphreys, Alisha Young, Casey Ruettgers, and Matt Ruettgers.
A private family graveside service will be held to honor and celebrate Ramona's life at Lone Oak Cemetery in Stayton, Oregon.
Ramona "Mary Lou" Henning-Scheer will be remembered fondly for her unwavering love, kindness, and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of all who knew her.
