Phillip Phil Buel Self June 18, 1946 May 15, 2015 Lyons, Oregon Phillip, 68, died Friday, May 15 in Lyons, Oregon. Phil was born on June 18, 1946 in Houston, Texas. He was raised by Garland and Dee Witt and their daughter Sherley Skeen (Witt). He was the owner and operator of the Red Barn Bar and Grill in Lyons for 20 years. He also served as a Sheriff for the L.A. Sheriffs Department for 8 years as well as a Real Estate agent for Century 21. Phil enlisted in the US Navy on July 10, 1964 and was honorably discharged on November 9, 1968 where he served aboard ship during the Vietnam War. He loved his wife Patty, the love of his life, his dogs Max and Fritz, and of course the Red Barn Bar and Grill and his girls. Phil enjoyed golf and fishing and crabbing on his boat. He made a big impression on the people he met, had a wonderful and clever sense of humor, and was full of wisdom he was eager to share. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Self (McKee) and his children, Christine Joann Self and Brian Self. A Celebration of Life with military honors will be held at the Red Barn Bar and Grill on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11:30 AM. A potluck will follow.
