Peggy Joann Peters

Peggy Joann Peters was born on August 13, 1940 in Hillsboro, Oregon to Richard and Alena McMillin Thiel.  She would grow up and graduate from high school in Redmond, Oregon. A few years after high school she would marry Robert Peters, in Salem, Oregon who she had met through family.  This would begin 47 wonderful years of marriage, before Roberts passing in 2009, and would welcome two children, Dianna and Michael. Peggy worked for the Department of Agriculture in the Animal Health Division for over 31 years. For many of the years she was part of a team that controlled illness in zoos and with farm animals. She also would work with vets to get them certified and licensed, as well as, educating them on controlling the spread of illness in animals. In her spare time, Peggy enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting and spending time with her dogs, cats and family. She was a very good accordionist and even taught students to play for many years. On January 2020, Peggy passed away in Salem, Oregon surrounded by family.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents Alena and Richard, and her sister, Marianne Thiel.  She is survived by her children, Dianna Blachly and Michael Peters; grandchild Emily; 1 great grandchild and siblings, Patsy (Robert) Rector, Barbara (Ron) Pierce, Dewey short, Wayne Short, Everett Short and Karen Nice.
