Pauline Fern King

Pauline King peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, August 29 at 10:00 AM. Pauline King (Lind) was born in Albany, OR to Lloyd and Mary Lind (Zehr) in 1930. She grew up in the Albany & Salem area. She was a member of the first graduating class of Western Mennonite High School in 1950. On March 25, 1951 Pauline married Leo King (of Calvary Mennonite Church, Los Angeles, CA). They raised 4 daughters in Salem, Oregon. Pauline was a creative Homemaker her entire life; sewing all of the clothing for herself and her family, arranging flowers and decorating the home for special occasions, decorating birthday cakes, and special story time with her children and grandchildren. Pauline was a charter member of Western Mennonite Church and Salem Mennonite Church. In 2007 Pauline and Leo began attending People's Church in Salem, OR. Over the years, she was actively involved in many women's ministries including WMSA (Women's Ministry Service Auxiliary) and Dress for Success. She was the President of the Local and the Area Boards for Aglow International. Pauline is preceded in death by her sister Helen Thomas (Lind), daughter Laurel Milmore, grandson Jonathan DerMott, and great-grandson Cohen Smith. She is survived by her husband Leo King, three daughters: Ferne Lovelace, Carolyn Lash, and Joan Troyer; 7 brothers and 5 sisters; 9 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A “Home Going Celebration” will be held at Western Mennonite Church in Salem Oregon, Sunday, September 16 at 2:30 PM. The family is thankful for the compassionate care received from Quail Run at Mennonite Village and Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, both in Albany, OR.
