Stayton, Oregon Wilfrid Robert (Bob) Horrocks was born on October 11, 1926 in Dearborn, Michigan. He passed away peacefully at his home on May 1, 2010. His parents moved to Kelso WA where he graduated from high school. Bob was drafted into the Seabees division of the Navy where he served in the Philippines during the occupation of World War II. He continued in the Seabees reserves until the 1980’s. After the war he attended Lower Columbia Junior College getting an AA in hopes of continuing on to become an engineer. Instead he met the love of his life Bernice Carriker of Longview, WA and they were married in 1950. They moved to Mill City, OR in 1954 where he worked for Simpsons Lumber Mill. In 1955 they moved to Stayton, where he lived in the same house for the remainder of his life. In 1966 he began working for the Main Post Office in Salem where he continued working until his 80th birthday. Bob was the father of five children, Wilfrid Robert Jr (Bob) of Stayton, Patricia (Patti) Wroblewski of Tigard, Leann Harding of Stayton, Toni Fields of Albany, and Diane Schneider of Salem, his sister Mickey Hass of Vancouver, WA, brother Jerry of Chehalis, WA and brother Walter (Dale) of Vancouver, WA . He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice, parents Wilfrid and Deena and brothers Allan and Ron. He was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services will be Saturday May 22 at 2:00 pm at Weddle Funeral Chapel in Stayton with an open house following at his home.
