Oregon Shaw

Shaw, Oregon Richard Midkiff, 69, of Shaw, Oregon, made a peaceful journey to heaven on February 28, 2012, surrounded by family.  Rick was the loving husband of Lanii Midkiff (Staten); cherished father of Stacie Midkiff and Jennifer Lara (Midkiff); beloved brother of Jean Uren, Kaye Long, and Patty Ann Garner; adoring grandpa of Joaquín Lara, Maya Lara and Karli Mautz; and respected father-in -law of Javier Lara.   Rick was born on July 2, 1942 in Muskogee Oklahoma to Woenetta and Milburn Midkiff.  He married his true love, Lanii Staten, in 1960 in Chico, California.  Rick served honorably in the Marine Corps, leaving service in 1964. Moving to Oregon in 1972, Rick and Lanii built a beautiful life together raising their daughters in Shaw.  Rick enjoyed family above all, as well as traveling, woodworking, playing cards, and the ever exciting NASCAR races that he viewed faithfully.  Rick’s quick wit, playfulness, and engaging sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him.  A memorial service will be held on March 10, 2012, at 10:30am at Bethel Baptist Church in Aumsville, Oregon.  Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Willamette Valley Hospice.
