It was at the hospital where he would meet Pauline Kral (Polly), was also serving in the Army and was working as an x-ray technician. The two started dating and would be married in 1967. They had three children and lived all their married life in Oregon. In his spare time, Norman enjoyed outdoor work and being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in nature.
