NAOMI N. POYNER November 1, 1924 – May 6, 2012 MOLALLA Naomi N. Poyner, died Sunday, May 6th at her home in Molalla. She was 87 years of age. She was the daughter of John and Cora Palmer. Naomi grew up in upper Yachats Valley and attended school at Portland Adventist Academy. She enlisted in the US Marine Corps during WWII and served as a cook. She was married to WD Poyner on January 2, 1945 in Portland and they lived in Oregon before moving to Montana in 1959 and to Battleground, WA in 1969. She had worked as a licensed practical nurse at the Vancouver Memorial hospital before retiring at age 65. WD preceded her in death on April 4, 1993 and she spent the winters in Arizona for several years before moving to Molalla ten years ago. Naomi was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed cooking and canning as well as gardening, hunting, crocheting and crafts. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teryl Henry; sisters, Mary Palmer, Sylvia McMichael, Lucille Brown; brothers, Orrin, Edgar and Kenneth Palmer. She is survived by her daughters, Diane (Troy) Roberts of Salem, Rosemary Paresa of Puyallup, WA, Crystal Fierling of Molalla, OR; sons, John Poyner and Walter (Kristina) Poyner both of Castle Rock, WA; brothers, John Palmer of Vancouver, WA, Arthur Palmer of Brush Prairie, WA, Carl Palmer of Hermiston, OR, Eldon Palmer of Sun City, AZ; sisters, Cora Johnson of Granite Falls, WA, Esther Larson of Sun City, AZ, Ruth Elder of Anza, CA, Jewell Scherrer of Amity, OR; 10 grandchildren; 14 Great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday, May 11th from 9:30 am – 10:30 am followed by the funeral service at 10:30 am at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Molalla. Graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:30 pm at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, WA Memorials may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 835 N.
