Michael “Mike” Ramsey was born in Salem, Oregon, to Robert Keith and Deloris June (Ames) Ramsey. He grew up in the Lyons area with his six siblings. His dad was a logger and mom was a homemaker. Mike attended Mari-Linn School through the 8th grade. He was the fastest kid at school, holding records in the 50 yard dash and the high jump. He also attended Stayton High School. Growing up, Mike and his brother Bobby were the closest in age and inseparable; they were always seen together. They loved going camping with their older brother Rodney. Bobby was Mike’s go-to guy his whole life, and Mike was the same for Bobby. Following his dad’s footsteps, Mike worked in the woods as a saw operator for logging companies. He also worked in construction and as a carpenter. He moved to the Sweet Home area and raised a daughter, Jordan. After living in Sweet Home for several years, Mike returned to the canyon and lived in the Mill City/Gates area. In the late 1990’s, through friends, Mike met the love of his life and constant companion Cindy Bilyeu. It was love at first sight and Mike and Cindy were together until he passed. They were a match made in heaven and did everything together. The couple shared a love of the woods and spent much of their time outdoors picking mushrooms and camping. They also did side jobs together in construction and spent time camping out on equipment watch up in the woods. Mike also helped Cindy’s family on their Christmas tree farm when they needed him. Mike was sweet and also had an ornery streak, and was a mountain man to the core. He loved his family and they loved him right back. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Mike was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his love Cindy Bilyeu; siblings Rodney Ramsey, Debbie (Steve) Minten, Sherry (Mike) Hall, Michelle (Kevin) Hall, Rhonda Thurston and Robert “Bobby” Ramsey; daughter Jordan Ramsey; one granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
