Michael Dean Rainey

Michael Dean Rainey was born on June 3, 1955 in Enumclaw, Washington to Wesley and Shirley (Brown) Rainey. He lived his first couple years in Buckley Washington before moving to Chehalis and eventually Vancouver where he attended school. He graduated in 1973 from Columbia River High School in Vancouver. Mike joined the U.S. Air Force in September 1973 and was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana where he met and married his first wife, Leanne Ritchson on December 18, 1976. They had his one and only beautiful daughter, Bobbi. After his service in the Air Force, Mike and his family moved back to Vancouver. He became a Safeway store manager in various stores in the Portland/Vancouver area. Mike later married, Joan Deason on April 4, 1998 in Aloha, Oregon. He became an instant father to Joan’s sons, Paul and Alex and were blessed to have three sons of their own: Cole, James, and Peter. He was proud of all his children. Mike later became a Walmart store manager where he exceeded expectations in turning stores around to excellence. He recently retired from Walmart. Mike was noted for having a listening ear and caring for others. He left a positive impact on hundreds of lives in his lifetime. Mike was a workaholic and was emphatic about the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners. Besides work and family, he was always up to playing a round of golf. He will be remembered as a kind, generous, and thoughtful father, son, husband, brother, and uncle. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Rainey. He is survived by his father, Wesley Rainey; wife, Joan Rainey; children, Bobbi Lowder (husband Coty), Cole Rainey, James Rainey, and Peter Rainey; step-children, Paul Yanez and Alex Yanez; grandchildren, Asia Williams, Weston Lowder, and Ezra Rainey; sister, Sheri (Rainey) Backous (husband, Rick) and their family. A viewing will be held at Weddle Funeral Services in Stayton, Oregon on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 1-2pm. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at a later date.
