Michael Brodrick Helean was born on December 16, 1949 in Portland, Oregon to Robert Edward Helean and Garlyn Genevieve Morgan. He attended Clackamas High School and eventually moved to Alaska where he would work on the pipeline. He settled in North Pole, Alaska where he enjoyed the privacy and quiet for the last 35 + years. After working on the pipeline, Michael would work as a carpenter. He loved classic rock from the 60’s and 70’s; some of his favorite artists were Bob Dillon, Neil Young and Cat Stevens. Not only would he listen to music, but he would also relax by playing his guitar. Michael also collected and worked on classic cars, and he loved his old glass top crown Victoria's He would buy, sell and restore his classic cars. Additionally, he was a gifted wood worker who could make all kinds of items. In the winter, Michael would come down to Oregon to stay with family and enjoy a milder climate. He was the master of imitating different characters and was goofy; Michael made people laugh and had a great sense of humor which is what he will be remembered for. On August 19, 2019, Michael passed away at age 69 in Estacada, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Helean and sister, Bettie Helean. He is survived by his son, Michael (Lydia) Castro; grandchildren, Aryca, Crysta, Jaeden, Jeffery, Tommie and Tanner.
