Melvin C. Derrick September 10, 1922-February 13, 2018 A celebration of life will be held for Melvin C. Derrick on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11am at Weddle Funeral Service. Melvin passed away on February 13, 2018 at age 95. He was born on September 9, 1922 in Nampa, Idaho to Wallace and Viola Derrick. After high school, Melvin honorably served his country in the Army Airforce during World War II. He completed 35 missions as a B-24 Artilleryman and earned a Valor award. After being honorably discharged, Melvin married Pearl Simmons in 1947 and together they started a family. Melvin loved hunting deer and elk, fishing and most of all spending time with his family. He enjoyed game shows like Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune, reading Louis L’amour novels and watching westerns, especially anything with John Wayne. Melvin will always be remembered as being happy and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his two sons Gary L. Derrick and George C. Derrick. Melvin is survived by his wife Pearl, daughters Peggy A. Kimbro and Sharon L. Cota in addition to his 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
