Mary Ella Davidson

Mary Ella Davidson, 74 years old, of Lyons, OR, passed away May 12 ^th , 2022, with her husband, daughter & granddaughters by her side at Salem Health Hospital.

Mary was born to the late Frank & Rachel Atkinson on December 6 ^th , 1947, in Mead County, West Virginia.

She married her surviving husband, Wm. “Rowan” Davidson on June 21, 1969. Mary is also survived by daughter: Mary L. Davidson of Portland, OR & 2 granddaughters: Tosha Garcia & Courtney Smith & newest great grandson: Miles Rowan Smith, also of Portland, OR (who she would have loved). She has 4 surviving brothers, Don, James, David & Ernest, that all live back East. She was the 5th out of 7 siblings.

Mary grew up in West Virginia & when she was 18, drove with her daughter and her best friend Carole Lewis (Sherman) to the west coast & settled in Olympia, Washington where she found work at the Boeing plant. They rented a trailer for $35 a month! She met Rowan in 1968, just as he was getting out of the Army, when he was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington. They married the next year and made their home in Lyons, Oregon, where they lived for the rest of her life.

Mary had a passion for learning about her family history thru Ancestory.com. She spent hours on researching our family history & loved to help close friends & family discover their family histories.

She retired from the Oregon Department of Revenue where she worked for 25 years, retiring in 2018, from her position as an Administrative Assistant.

She will be truly missed!

A burial will be planned for this summer at Fairview Cemetery in Gates, Oregon.

I lieu of flowers, Mary would have wanted to have donations sent to the American Lung Cancer Association in her name.
