Mary E. Eckley (Lunsford)

Mary passed away on June 29, 2021 at age 88. Born on October 18, 1932 in Marion Forks, Utah to Marion and Amelia (Clark) Valarida. Mary would grow up all over as her father would move each year to follow work. Eventually, she would end up in Sandy, Oregon where she went to high school. As an adult Mary would attend Chemeketa Community College. Mary would live in Turner where she raised her children. She then lived in Salem while working as a realtor. She would work for the National Opinion Research Center out of Chicago, Illinois. The most important job in life Mary had was that of a mother to her five children, Sherry, Bruce, Nadine, Bert and Daniel. She was devoted, loving and enjoyed time with her family most. She also enjoyed reading, long walks and adored animals. Mary would meet her husband, Robert Eckley while grocery shopping, they would marry in Salem, Oregon in 2006. Robert would proceed her in death in 2009. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, both brothers, Tharon Valarida and Daryll Valarida; and two sons, Bruce Lunsford and Bert Lunsford. She is survived by her children, Sherry (Dennis) Burton, Nadine Leskowsky, Daniel (Stephanie) Lunsford; 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 2pm at Weddle Funeral Service.
