Grandma was born August 18, 1932, to Sherman and Letha Stallsworth in Eckley, Co. She was the oldest and had 3 younger brothers: Wayne, David and Danny. Uncle David is her only surviving brother. When Grandma was 12 years old the family moved to Adams County, Colorado. They lived there for a year and a half then they moved to the Adams City area where her dad worked on a hog farm. When Grandma was 18, she started working as a telephone operator. Someone asked her one time if she ever listened in on any of the conversations and she replied, Maybe??? Grandma met Lawrence Stedman and they married in September of 1950. Grandma and Popo lived across the street from her folks, which was nice when the grandkids came along. Letha June was born in 1951 and Diana Carrol in 1953 in Denver. Popo decided the land of opportunity was someplace else and moved to Butte, Mt. Popo went to work in the mines. Aunt Cherry was born in 1957. They lived and took care of the Ronan Hotel for a couple of years and decided to move to Albany, Oregon where Aunt Mel and family lived, which was Popo's sister. Uncle Bill was born at Albany General Hospital in 1960. After 3 daughters, they finally had a son. With 4 kids in a 2-bedroom house Popo decided to move to Marion, Oregon in 1964 and bought a 2 story, 4-bedroom house on 10 acres. All the kids went to Marion Grade School and graduated from Cascade High School. Children grow up and move away and the grandkids started to come. Letha and Darrell had Eric, Missie, Natasha and Karla. Diana moved away and had Michelle, Rachel, and Jay. Many memories were made. Grandma usually went back to Colorado during the summers because she would suffer with her asthma here if she didn't. While back there, her mother, Grandma Stedman taught her how to decorate cakes. My Grandma made many, many beautiful cakes. She finally had to stop decorating cakes when her Parkinson Disease progressed. After 32 years of marriage, Grandma and Popo got a divorce and Grandma decided to go into business for herself and started an Adult Foster Care Home. There were many peaks and valleys, but she became a successful businesswoman. Grandma retired and did well on her own for a while. When she broke her ankle and had to have 3 surgeries to shishkabob it back together, she could not live on her own. After rehab she moved in with Aunt Diana for a year and a half and then moved into Cascades of Stayton Assisted Living where she made many friends. Grandma's health started to decline in the fall of 2023. On top of getting covid twice she got cellulitis in her legs, and she really declined after getting bladder complications. After a hospital stay and getting transferred to a nursing home, she took her last breath Christmas morning around 6:30 am. Aunt Diana was with her. She leaves behind many memories and family and friends that will think of her often. Now, she lives in a mansion.
